This course surveyed the key theories and principles of how to be a good global citizen, generally and more specifically, how to be a prepared, educated, and a responsible international traveler. The course served as a guide for international travelers and for those desiring a career in the global marketplace or service.

I was taught how to make responsible choices when planning and engaging in travel whether the purpose is pleasure, business, education, volunteering, or any other purpose. I learned how to research and identify conscientious travel alternatives. I learned how to distinguish responsible travel providers from those who are less so and how to find those providers.

I also learned about activities and behaviors that contribute to the well-being of local cultures, environments, communities, and economies. The course helped me to develop skills to build and foster ongoing connections -- connections that build understanding and bridge cultural differences. Finally, it taught skills that promote cross-cultural communication, and develop skills for appreciation of diverse cultural beliefs, art, music, food, stories, spiritual ceremonies, and connection to the natural world.
